King of Crabs is a new mobile battle-royale game that forces players world-wide to slug it out across the ocean so they can become the baddest crustacean in the sea. Starting out can be tough and this guide will show players the best crabs to use.
King of Crabs was launched on July 3, 2020, by Robot Squid and it's a new mobile battle royale game that gives players complete freedom to explore the sands of the sea as they find various methods to upgrade their crab. The map doesn't shrink like in other Battle Royale games and it's essentially a free-for-all of up to 100 real-time players each clawing their way to the top. When starting the game, there are two basic choices of game modes to choose from; 'Friendly' and 'King'. The 'Friendly' is a PVE game mode that lets players team up and fight various bots and other environmental hazards as they help each other level up. The 'King' mode is a PVP game mode to where other players duke it out with their decked out crabs. Players start the game out on a coastline where there's mayhem happening at every coral corner. They must hack and slash everything that's moving in order to gain XP and grow bigger in size.
There is a slew of customizable items that players can use to dress up their crabs. Things like; hats, skin color, skills, and even upgrades can be unlocked. The three basic methods of earning XP and growing the crab is by either killing other players (or bots) eating food, and opening treasure chests. The map has all manners of riches that players can garner in the chests that can range from; shields, swords, sticks, extra lives, boosts, and coins. When starting out, players will come across a 'crab selection' menu that has different variations of crustaceans to their choosing. That come is different Tiers; common, rare, super rare, mega rare and legendary. Now, when starting out players will be limited to just the 'common' Tier and there are four to choose from; brown crab, rainbow crab, blue crab, and mitten crab. This mobile game has a dense environment and some exploration is not only encouraged, but also required.
Best Starter Crabs for King of Crabs
The way it works in King of Crabs is that every common crab type starts off as a blank slate. Players will start out with 5 points in their customization menu and they'll apply these points to either; attack, speed, or health. Points are accumulated through the collection of pearls that are scattered throughout the map. Unfortunately, the very beginning will be forced players to play as the brown crab for a few rounds to break the ice and gain some XP. So, it's advised to use all the points for the attack stats for this crab to lay waste across the coastline as effectively as possible.
Do not worry about speed and health to start off with. Just go in and start slaying as many other crabs as possible. Also, try and eat other sea life, as well. After a few rounds, players should be able to lock the other common crabs in short order. After these crabs are unlocked, players will see that they all have varying stats:
Brown Crab
- Health > 466
- Attack > 210
- Speed > 246
- Special Move > Runoff in a super boost for a few seconds to escape
Rainbow Crab
- Health > 538
- Attack > 235
- Speed > 270
- Special Move > Sticky goo is discharged to stop enemies where they crawl.
Blue Crab
- Health > 493
- Attack > 210
- Speed > 288
- Special Move > Enemies are frozen on the spot and become immobilized for a few seconds.
Mitten Crab
- Health > 551
- Attack > 223
- Speed > 264
- Special Move > Attacks are sped up and there's a 100% chance of critical damage.
As players can see the brown crab is an all-rounder to where the stats are within the medium range. The mitten crab is like a tank, since it moves slower than most, but it can take massive damage. This crab is ideal for players who enjoy being "up close and personal" and don't like to retreat very often. Thus, its special attack can clear a room full of enemies within seconds, and even can take down a bigger crab if strategically implemented. If players prefer to get around the map with haste, then the blue crab would be their best bet. Its attack is the same as the brown crab, but its health stats are a little higher.
The rainbow crab has the most devastating attack and it is the second-fastest among its peers. Its special move makes up for its slight slow speed with the power to stick enemies in one place. It also has the second-highest health stats right under the mitten crab. In all honesty, this crab could be the most useful crab under the common Tier with its both speed and attack stats giving it an edge. Thus, its health gives it a slight tank-like feel that also comes with some gusto regarding its movement.
As players go up the chain of crustacean on the roster, they will see they will eventually unlock; shell crabs, lobsters, and other sea-life. It's a crab eat crab world out there and there will be no mercy. Just remember to loot treasure chests around the map during rounds to increase the chances of finding weapons and shields. This will greatly increase the chances of survival, especially when being surrounded. Also, be sure to stack up on pearls so players can customize their stats and make their crab a more effective fighter.
