I woke up this morning STARVING and this Creamy Crab Dip hit the spot. It’s a simple crab dip and it was my breakfast this morning. Yes, I like nontraditional food for breakfast. This dip is not simple simple, but delicious simple.

I have always LOVED the taste of crab and had an affinity for crab legs, crab claws, crab cakes, etc.—even as a kid. I associated them with going to the beach, because that’s when going out for seafood was a given.

When we would go to a seafood buffet for dinner, my parents would complain about the price because it’s $27 a plate. That’s a lot when the kids are only going eat two chicken fingers and a handful of rolls, because they’re saving their appetites for ice cream afterwards.

I think I was an exception to most kids when it came to food—I ate the mess out of some crab legs.

My dad always brought that up during our few meals together before he died in 2009.

He was definitely a foodie!

But back to this crab dip… If you love crab as much as me, you’ll be obsessed with this summertime dip. Pair with pita chips, crackers or fresh veggies and you have the ultimate snack.

Creamy Crab Dip

Ingredients

  • 16 oz. crabmeat (imitation is just fine), chopped 
  • ¼ cup Parmesan cheese
  • ¼ onion, diced
  • 1 jalapeno pepper, diced
  • 1 tbsp Old Bay seasoning
  • 2 tbsp horseradish sauce
  • 4 tbsp sour cream (not fat free)

Directions

  1. Combine everything in a medium sized mixing bowl.

  2. Salt and pepper to taste.

  3. Refrigerate until ready to serve.

  4. Serve with pita chips, crackers or fresh veggies.
