Las Vegas loves spicy Cajun seafood served in a bag and the trend shows no sign of slowing, with a second location of The Vikings Boiling Seafood already on the way and locals Crab Island close to debuting a new expansion in Spring Valley.
Scheduled for a July launch at the intersection of Jones Boulevard and Russell Road, Crab Island will take over a corner space at the Spanish Palms Plaza, formerly occupied by the Eat N Play fusion restaurant, and a short walk from ube specialists Cafe 86 and breakfast and lunch favorite Mr. Mamas.
Expected to be open daily from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and closing at 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, the new restaurant promises a “finger licking good” menu designed to “get your hands dirty,” serving market price options of mussels, Dungeness crab, shrimp, clams, crawfish, and lobster tail with a choice of spice and seasoning, plus po-boys, fried oysters, cod, or tilapia, and appetizers of crab cakes and calamari.
Crab Island continues to operate under the name Cajun Crab House on Boulder Highway, and also replaced the Cutting Board Filipino Gastropub on Rock Springs Drive last October. A southeast location at Pecos Road and Patrick Lane has been open since November.
