Series wrap-up: The Jumbo Shrimp continued their electric start by taking five of six from the Norfolk Tides, with only a Sunday extra-inning loss halting their winning streak.
Highlight: Pitchers Elieser Hernandez and Nick Neidert combined on the Jumbo Shrimp's first shutout of the season on Tuesday, a 4-0 victory over Norfolk. Hernandez, on a rehab assignment, allowed no runs and only two hits during two starts in the series, earning the Triple-A East Pitcher of the Week award.
Crustacean sensation: While Jesus Sanchez continues to dominate at the plate, batting .469 with seven home runs and 20 RBIs on the season, he's now getting plenty of support. On Saturday, it was catcher Jorge Alfaro's turn, whacking home runs in the fourth and sixth innings to finish with five RBIs on the evening while on a rehab assignment from the Marlins.
On deck: No doubt about the big news in this series: It's the matchup of Sanchez and Durham's Wander Franco, ranked as the No. 1 prospect in all of baseball by Baseball America and MLB.com. It's the first time in 20 years that the reigning No. 1 prospect is scheduled to play against Jacksonville (several others have faced the Jumbo Shrimp or Suns prior to receiving their No. 1 designation). But Franco isn't the only threat for Durham. Outfielders Vidal Brujan and Josh Lowe have seven and six home runs, respectively, and both have OPS higher than 1.000. The Jumbo Shrimp also add veteran outfielder Starling Marte on assignment from Miami.
Starters: Not yet announced, but possible would be Jacksonville's Josh A. Smith (1-0, 3.55) against Durham's Adrian De Horta (0-1, 9.72).
