The use for the old TGI Fridays in Greenfield is no longer TBD.

Crab Du Jour, a seafood chain with dozens of locations, mostly in the eastern and southern U.S., is proposed for the 5,300-square-foot space at 4638 S. 76th St., according to city documents.

The restaurant is hoping to open by July or August, said Crab Du Jour Regional General Manager Jeff Schroth.

It'll be the second Crab Du Jour in the state. The first opened in Brown Deer in 2020.

It's part of a rapid expansion of the Cajun-inspired eatery that has a goal of 200 locations by the end of 2022 and 500 by the end of 2025, Schroth said.

"So that's a great foothold right there to get into Milwaukee and then keep on going," he said.

The chain currently has about 70 locations, Schroth said.

The full-service restaurant will have table seating and a sit-down bar.

The menu will include crab, crawfish, calamari and lobster, prepared fresh daily.

Wings, po'boys, chicken tenders, and other seafoods such as fried fish, shrimp and oysters will also be available.

The restaurant plans to hire 25 to 30 employees, starting with a general manager in June or July, Schroth said. The GM will then coordinate the rest of the hiring.

The Greenfield Plan Commission is scheduled to review site and architectural plans and a special use application for the restaurant on Tuesday.

Renovations will take place to transform the location into its new iteration, both inside and out.

The property has been vacant since TGI Fridays closed in May 2020 and is in "very rough shape," according to the city, with dead landscaping, tall weeds and trash throughout the site.

Plans call for the restaurant to replace retaining walls along the south and west property lines, replace concrete and curbs throughout the site and install an irrigation system on the property. The rear portion of the parking lot is proposed to be repaved in the future.

Crab Du Jour's hours of operation are proposed to be from 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 11 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Friday through Sunday.
