Texarkana, Texas — When it comes to dining out experiences, sometimes it pays to just dive in. That's generally what is encouraged when your server brings you your order at The Mighty Crab, a seafood place on Gibson Lane, in the space formerly occupied by Hopkins Icehouse. Now settled in for a few months, diners here have had a chance to catch their unique style.

"We serve our seafood in bags on a tray," said Carlissiay Manning, general manager.

"Put the seafood in the bag in the kitchen, along with your ordered spices. We give it a good shake in front of the customer and let them have it. At that point, the customer can eat it out of the bag or pour it out onto their silver platter. It is as easy as that. Also, if you have some you want to take home, your bag makes that easy as well."

A look at The Mighty Crab's menu shows seafood is indeed what they do, with a variety of crabs offered as well as other options. But the point is to make it a hands-on experience.

And indeed, the staff of The Mighty Crab tries to make it as homey as possible.

Manning has been in the restaurant trade for 10 years and was previously a part of the Hopkins staff.

When the place began The Mighty Crab transition, she began to transition into the educational field. But a call from The Mighty Crab brought her back.

"They offered me the general manager position, and to be honest, I missed it, taking care of my customers," she said. "It is all about making them happy. A good restaurant is like home."

(The Mighty Crab is at 4030 Gibson Lane. You can find them on Facebook, too.)
