EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ - The Virginia-based Cajun seafood restaurant The Twisted Crab is coming to the Brunswick Square Mall. The Twisted Crab will occupy the former location of The Tilted Kilt on Route 18 South.
Mall General Manager Ron Lichtenberger is excited about the prospect of the restaurant, where service is a focus, locating in East Brunswick: "The food is amazing, and the decor is fantastic. It will be a hip, upbeat location, and something the area really needs." Lichtenberger said the owners have planned to build-out and activate the patio area in front of the restaurant as an area featuring artwork and plantscaping. An opening is likely in April.
The Twisted Crab has seven locations in Virginia and is planning openings in Maryland and Florida. East Brunswick will be the only location to host the seafood restaurant in New Jersey.
At Monday's Township Council meeting, East Brunswick will hold a vote regarding the "Person to Person, Place to Place transfer" of the liquor license attached to the property. If approved, the license would be transferred immediately to The Twisted Crab.
"The Twisted Crab Seafood Boil and Bar" features "boils" full of shrimp and crawfish or crab legs. Wings, mussels, oysters, calamari, sausage, and lobsters are on the menu. Diners may choose among several seasonings: Cajun, Lemon Pepper, Garlic Butter, Creole or the Twisted Sauce. (No worries, kids and parents, there are chicken tenders on the menu, too.)
