Despite the season not being held up due to wildlife or health concerns, there is still no Dungeness Crab. The Press Democrat reports that fishermen and wholesalers have still not settled on an agreed price per pound. Fishermen are citing rising costs and cannot go below $3 per pound while wholesalers are pushing for $2.50 per pound. The price strike has gone on for two weeks with crab fishermen up and down the California and Oregon coast unifying over the issue. The season was already delayed twice due to late whale migrations south and officials not wanting them to get caught in fishing equipment.
