Algonac Lions Club to host annual shrimp dinner

The Algonac Lions Club will host its annual shrimp dinner Nov. 25 to benefit local and Lions charities. The carryout dinner event will start at 5 p.m. and will include 1 pound of shrimp, sauerkraut and sausage, jambalaya, French fries and tater tots. Tickets, which cost $25 each, can be purchased at Lifecare Chiropractic Clinic, located at 406 Pointe Tremble Road in Algonac. Additional orders of shrimp cost $10 per pound. Commission opts to extend utility bill deferment resolution

The Marine City Commission voted unanimously Nov. 5 to extend a resolution waiving late fees for utility bill payments for residents due to COVID-19.

“I’d like to extend this out to February and go until maybe we’re at an end of this fiasco,” said Mayor Dave Vandenbossche, who made the motion to extend the resolution through February 2021.

Grill raffle to benefit Class of 2021

Henry’s Club is raffling off a grill as a fundraiser for the Algonac High School 2021 senior celebration. Tickets cost $10. The drawing will be Dec. 5. For more information, email henrysclubalgonac@gmail.com.

SC4 Board of Trustees looks to fill vacant seat

The St. Clair County Community College Board of Trustees has one vacant trustee term to fill by appointment. The term of office for the vacancy is about 25 months and will expire Dec. 31, 2022.

Qualified candidates must be at least 18 years old and a registered voter living in the St. Clair County Community College district.

The deadline for application materials is midnight Nov. 23. Applications will be considered at a special meeting of the board set for 4:30 p.m. Nov. 30.

Individuals who wish to be considered for appointment must submit a letter of interest and resume or other supporting documentation to Sarah Rutallie, board secretary, 323 Erie St., P.O. Fundraiser honors first responders

The Government Division of United Way of St. Clair County’s Campaign Team is fundraising to honor the men and women on the frontlines, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The division is selling T-shirts to honor first responders while raising funds for UWSCC’s Community Campaign.

Thanks to accounting firm UHY LLP and the law firm of Fletcher, Fealko, Shoudy and Francis PC, 100% of the proceeds from the T-shirt sale, which will run for a limited time only, will be donated directly to UWSCC.

The cost is $20 for sizes S-XL and $25 for 2XL and 3XL. All orders and funds are due by noon Nov. 20. Checks can be made payable to United Way of SCC. A link to the order form can be found online at uwstclair.org. To order, contact Lydia Kern at 810-989-6900 or lkern@stclaircounty.org.

Port Huron Museums launch new fall events

Port Huron Museums has a few new events available. “Artifacts After Hours with Veronica Campbell” is a new interactive way to look at artifacts and history with a guide. The event is scheduled to run from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Nov. 19.

“Holiday Night at the Light” will have activity stations at the Light Station, including candle dipping, cookie decorating, making a pinecone bird feeder and picture taking with Santa. The event is scheduled to run from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Dec. 5 and is available exclusively to members through Nov. 30. Use the code “member” when purchasing the free tickets.

Blue Water Area Churches Thanksgiving service

The Blue Water Area Churches will host a community Thanksgiving service at 7 p.m. Nov. 24 via Facebook Live on the Operation Transformation’s Facebook page. The service will be an evening of worship, reflection and praise to God. The following churches will each be leading a part of the service: Living Water Fellowship, Mt. Pleasant Bible Church, Hillside Wesleyan, Pollina Avenue Holiness Church, Zion Cathedral of Praise and St. Clair First United Methodist. An offering will be received by Blue Water Area Churches to support various ministry outreach efforts to the community throughout the year.
