SPRINGFIELD, NJ — Over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend, local eatery Crab Du Jour gave back to the community, donating over 100 dollars worth of food to the Springfield Fire Department. The donation was a charitable effort from the restaurant to the first responders.
Crab Du Jour partner and owner Kevin Zhang spoke about the donation, and said that his staff supplied the firemen with everything they would need to celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday in their home away from home at the fire house.
"We donated 150 dollars worth of food," Zhang said. "[It was] our Thanksgiving package which includes six lbs of seafood - snow crab legs, lobster tails, shrimps, black mussels, green mussels, corn and potatoes."
As for the why of the donation, Zhang said that it was important for his business to show gratitude to the local first responders who keep the town safe, and that the donation was something he and Crab Du Jour were incredibly happy to be able to do.
"As part of giving back to the community, we support local community and first responders," Zhang said. "Many of our Crab Du Jour locations are doing this donation package to first responders. [Being] a growing brand, it is very important for Crab Du Jour to be involved in the community, and we like to give back to the community."
"Crab Du Jour Springfield wishes everyone a great holiday and thank you for the first responders and support of everyone," Zhang added."
The food donation from Crab Du Jour coincides with a recent season of charitable giving, as the Springfield Fire Department also received a donation from the Springfield Elks late last month.
