A 29-year-old man was shot in the buttocks but his wallet shielded him from injury during a drive-by shooting at the Mira Mesa Crab Hut Friday night, police said.
The shooting happened around 9:10 p.m. in the shopping plaza on Mira Mesa Boulevard at Camino Ruiz.
A vehicle drove by the Crab Hut and someone in the vehicle fired several rounds toward the restaurant, according to San Diego police Officer Robert Heims.
Heims said police do not have a description of a suspect or the vehicle.
The victim was inside the restaurant when he was shot. The man’s wallet stopped the bullet and prevented any injury, according to Heims.
The incident is under investigation by the police department’s northeastern division.
Police are asking anyone with information on the incident to call the northeastern division, or Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477.
