SPRINGFIELD, NJ — With a snip of the ribbon, Springfield's newest eatery officially opened Friday afternoon, bringing a taste of seafood to town.
Crab Du Jour Xpress, a Cajun Seafood Boil and Bar officially held its grand opening. The restaurant offers a few tables for seating, but is mostly focused on the takeout and delivery side of operations. The menu is traditional Cajun seafood style, with a wide variety of options to pick and choose from.
For partner and owner Kevin Zhang, the ability to hold the ribbon-cutting and to be welcomed in by Springfield's township officials, business community and residents is a spot of hospitality he will not soon forget.
This is definitely a great honor," Zhang said. "Just seeing everyone from around Springfield coming in for the past week. We already soft opened for a week . Today's the official grand opening. Everyone has been so welcoming and so united. Everyone's just so kind, and they really want to see us succeed, and that means a lot to us."
He also said that he would look to reciprocate that hospitality by getting involved in Springfield town-wide activities and charitable projects in the future.
Springfield BID Co-Chair Mike Scalera, who had worked closely with Zhang prior to the grand opening was among the individuals at the ribbon-cutting. Along with the delicious food, he said that having an ownership group with Zhang has made their entry to town an exceptionally smooth one.
"It's great to see that we have a seafood restaurant," Scalera said. "They're very professional, I've never seen anything like it. They did a beautiful job inside decorating the space that they have, and the owner has been absolutely fantastic and he's really happy to be in Springfield providing Crab Du Jour.
