A bluefin tuna weighing more than 300 kilograms was found in Mowi's Haveroy facility in Western Norway on Sept. 10, however, the company was quick to act to mitigate any damage to the netpen.
The company reported no evidence of any escaped fish or damage to the pen, Mowi Group Communications Manager Eivind Naevdal-Bolstad told IntraFish. A hole in one netpen was fixed immediately.
Last week, another Atlantic bluefin tuna weighing about 306 kilos was discovered in SalMar's Arnes facility in the Namsos municipality, Norway. In this incident, fish did escape through a damaged net.
