Fire crews put out a 2 to 3 acre blaze in the La Tuna Canyon area in Tujunga Wednesday evening.

The brush fire, which sparked around 6 p.m., had slow-to-moderate rate of spread, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Firefighters were positioning themselves between the flames and nearby homes for protection, officials said.

Sky5 footage showed residents attempting to hose their properties with water to prevent fire spread.

About 40 firefighters were working at the scene, along with at least one helicopter overhead.

Forward progress of the fire was stopped in 43 minutes, according the department.

No injuries were reported and no structures were damaged.
