(KNSI) - Costco shoppers are being told to check their freezer for shrimp that could make people sick.
The Food and Drug Administration says frozen cooked, peeled, and deveined shrimp are sold in one, one point five, and two pound bags under brand names such as Kirkland, Fresh Market, Unistar and Wellsley Farms from February to May.

There have been no reports of any illnesses to date associated with these cooked shrimp distributions. However, cooked shrimp imported by Kader Exports was tested by the FDA and found to contain Salmonella.
Salmonella is an organism that can cause severe and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or older adults, and those with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms), endocarditis, and arthritis.
The FDA urges anyone who bought the frozen shrimp to return it to the store where it was purchased for a full refund.
