StarKist Co., the US-based division of South Korea's Dongwon Enterprise, this week announced the retail launch of its "Creations Microwavables", which it reports to be the first microwave-safe pouch featuring seasoned, wild-caught tuna with vegetables and grains, including quinoa, barley and brown rice.
The products, which can be found in the shelf-stable, pouch/canned tuna section of many grocers, are available in four varieties, including bold spicy rice & beans, tomato basil, Latin citrus, and Thai green curry.
The products previously debuted online in April and were available from Amazon, as reported by Undercurrent News.
The meals are ready to eat at room temperature and can be improved by heating for 30 seconds in the microwave, according to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania-based StarKist. Also, because of their mild aroma, they can be cooked worry-free in an office setting, the company said.
The product is retailing for $1.99 - $2.49 per pouch.
