The Austin County Fair Association is planning on holding its annual shrimp boil on Friday, July 17, in the Austin County Fair Exposition and Convention Center.
However, it will look a little different this year. They will be serving all-you-can-eat boiled shrimp and drinks from at 6:30-8 p.m. Throughout the night, there will be a dessert auction. That evening, the entertainment line-up for this year’s Austin County Fair will also be announced.
In 1992, a couple of fair boar directors had the idea of offering scholarships from the fair in honor of deceased directors and their spouses. This year the Austin County Fair Association is offering 24 scholarships in the amount of $62,500 and to date it has been able to offer over $839,500 to graduating seniors from the high schools in Austin County. Proceeds from the shrimp boil go to the Memorial Scholarship.
Tickets for the shrimp boil are $30 per person and may be purchased at the fair office, from any Austin County Fair director or First National Bank in Bellville. Shrimp boil tickets can also be purchased online at https://ift.tt/1Fq0y31.
If, due to the COVID-19 virus and circumstances beyond their control, the association is unable to serve guests inside the Austin County Fair Exposition and Convention Center, there will be a drive-thru at the fairgrounds.
